The Sea Shepherd
The Sea shepherd is a Graphic novel about the the history of the Marine Conservation organisation, Sea Shepherd and there leader Paul Watson.
It charts the history of the organization and how they have been successful in defending marine wildlife in the face of action from governments and multi national interest keen on preserving profit at the expense of destroying the natural world. The project was funded with a Grant for the Arts from The Arts Council.
The finished book was going to be published by Soaring Penguin press. This didn’t happen so Phatcomics self published the book, and Strip For Me have agreed to distribute it digitally.
Defending the Oceans
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Established in 1977, our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. We use innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.
Sea Shepherd reviewed on Down TheTubes
This new work documents the Sea Shepherd organisation which aims to protect marine wildlife and the biosphere of the seas, founded in 1977 by activists no longer prepared to simply bear witness and document atrocities with existing groups like Greenpeace, but to take direct action. Sean Azzopardi brings the motivations that inspired this ongoing struggle to vivid and disturbing life.
