Still playing catch-up with what’s happened for me the past month or so. One event was moving out of the studio In Prospect Centre. (The space was being run by lovely East Street Arts )
Barney invited me to join October last year. He had set up Red contemporary arts Nourishment centre, and I took a room on the top floor. What followed was a really intense year, in many ways. I made a lot of work, a lot of creative breakthroughs. There was the unfolding pandemic, lock downs, shielding. In the downstairs gallery space a number of exhibitions and provocations resulted in the shopping centre management telling us to take them down or that there was many, many complaints.
The final one resulted in us having our notice served. East Street had taken possession of a new building a couple of minutes away and we were offered space there. More about this later. There was one final performance by noise artist Yol, and then it was over.
An intense year that, thanks Barney.
I don’t think we will forget that one in a hurry.
